The terms that govern your use of Get Clarity, operated by Notabyte Limited.
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms govern your use of Get Clarity at clarityuk.app, operated by Notabyte Limited (England & Wales, Companies House: 12567215). By creating an account or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
To use Get Clarity you must: be at least 18, be a UK resident or operate a UK business, have legal capacity to enter contracts, and use the platform for lawful business purposes only.
3. Our Services
Get Clarity provides: invoice creation & PDF export, expense tracking, bank account connection (TrueLayer), transaction import, HMRC MTD VAT & income tax integration, AI-powered Q&A (Ask Clarity), financial dashboard, accountant access & export.
4. Service Access
Get Clarity is currently provided as a free service during our early access period. Any future changes to service access terms will be communicated to users in advance and reflected in an updated version of these Terms.

5. Open Banking (TrueLayer)
By connecting your bank you authorise TrueLayer (FCA authorised) to access your account data on your behalf. This is read-only — we cannot initiate payments or move money. You may disconnect at any time from Settings. Re-authorisation is required every 90 days per FCA Open Banking requirements.
6. HMRC Making Tax Digital (MTD)
Get Clarity holds HMRC MTD Production Application Reference: 2026-EMV042. By using MTD features you authorise us to communicate with HMRC on your behalf.
You remain solely responsible for the accuracy of all data submitted to HMRC and any resulting penalties. Get Clarity assists with formatting and submission but does not provide tax advice.
7. User Responsibilities
You agree to: provide accurate information, keep credentials secure, comply with UK law, not reverse engineer or hack the platform, not process third-party data without their consent, notify us at security@clarityuk.app of any suspected unauthorised access.
8. Intellectual Property
All platform content, software, and design is owned by or licensed to Notabyte Limited.
You retain full ownership of your data (invoices, expenses, client info). You grant us a limited licence to process this data solely to provide our services.
9. Disclaimers
Get Clarity is an accounting tool, not a regulated financial or tax adviser. Nothing on our platform constitutes financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your situation. We do not guarantee that HMRC will accept submitted data.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses; not liable for HMRC penalties from inaccurate data; our total liability in any 12-month period shall not exceed the amount, if any, you have paid for use of the service in that period. Nothing limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
11. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We will notify users of planned downtime in advance where possible.
12. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for: breach of these Terms, false information, or fraud. Upon termination you may export your data within 30 days before deletion.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts. Before legal proceedings, contact legal@clarityuk.app — we respond within 14 business days.
14. Changes
We will notify users of material changes by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before changes take effect.
